Our Story
Founder, Designer & Owner Scotty Scott started his journey in the luxury jewelry business in 2012 through extensive research. A year prior he became the global trademark owner of the all rights reserved name and likeness for ATLWOOD®.
Upon his research he discovered the horrible truth about the “Blood Diamonds” epidemic where many African men, women and children were exploited and their families were split apart. These African families were forced to work in terrible inhumane conditions in diamond mines for very little pay. The “Blood Diamonds“ crisis supported illegal mining practices, human rights abuses that led to the loss of many lives in those diamond mines and even funded civil wars throughout Africa and abroad.
Scotty was determined to not have blood on his hands and searched for a (CONFLICT FREE) alternative source to embark upon his luxury jewelry journey. In 2014 , after years of research he boarded a jet and went to the United Arab Emirates 🇦🇪 area of Dubai. He befriended several residents at one of the largest jewelry manufacturing company in the region and began designing black jewelry using a 4 step lab simulation process. Each cubic zirconia stone in all his jewelry was polished 4 times to create the finest VVS inspired jewelry. Remembering the struggles and unjust done to so many African families working in those diamond mines struck a nerve in Scotty to create something special. He decided to focus on designing black jewelry with the finest black ice stones (Simulated Diamonds) imported from Dubai to promote “Black Worldwide Ownership”). This same 4 step polishing method, mastered in Dubai, was also used for our upcoming black mossanite and natural earth-mined black diamond pieces. Introducing ATLWOOD Luxury Black Ice!

What Are Simulated Diamonds? A stimulated diamond. also known as a diamond simulant, is a stone that looks like a diamond but is actually made from a different material and has different chemical and physical properties. Simulated diamonds are often used in jewelry as a more affordable alternative to natural earth-mined diamonds. Most of our simulated diamonds are made from cubic zirconia, a naturally occurring mineral called baddeleyite, but the cubic zirconia used for simulated diamonds is man-made from zirconium dioxide. The most common material for stimulated diamonds is moissanite, it’s more expensive than cubic zirconia. We will design black moisaanite jewelry in the near future.
